The model of the Swedish brand will be presented as part of a special event in Copenhagen (Denmark), the presentation will take place on October 12. Orders for the novelty will begin immediately after the debut.
The history of Polestar began in the mid-90s, then it was a racing team, and later the division was retrained as a tuning studio for Volvo. In 2017, a separate independent brand with a familiar name appeared. Its first-born was the Polestar 1 hybrid coupe, now this model has already been discontinued. The line now includes the Polestar 2 compact electric cross-liftback, but in the future it will be replenished with several announced new products. So, very soon the company will show the serial electric crossover Polestar 3.
The company has finally announced the exact date for the SUV’s debut: the presentation will take place on October 12 as part of a special event in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Production of new items will be launched in early 2023 at the facilities of the American plant owned by Volvo (located in South Carolina). Dealers will start accepting orders immediately after the debut, the approximate price tag was previously called: probably in Europe the cost will vary from 75 to 110 thousand euros.
It is known that the Polestar 3 will share the SPA2 platform with the Volvo EX90: it is an electric crossover that will be the successor to the XC90; Kolesa.ru recently published a teaser for a novelty that will debut in November this year. At the same time, the Polestar 3 will have a different body with more sporty features and a different, more streamlined roofline.
Judging by the official pictures, the novelty will have an original hood, T-shaped head optics, wide wheel arches and a high waist. Also in the pictures of the stern is a spoiler on the top of the tailgate and curved taillights, connected to each other along the upper parts of the “horseshoes” by a luminous line. The logo of the Swedish brand is located in the center of the fifth door.
There is not much information about the cabin yet: the company said that the interior will receive gold-colored details, including in the design of seat belts, as well as in interior lighting. The crossover will receive a complex of modern security systems (the same will subsequently be the case for the Volvo EX90). In addition, already the basic version of the model was promised an air suspension with two-chamber air springs and adaptive shock absorbers.
Polestar 3 will be equipped with a twin-engine unit (one electric motor on each axle). On variants with the optional Performance Pack, the total output of this all-electric system will be 517 hp and maximum torque of 910 Nm. The capacity of the traction battery is still not named, earlier the company noted that the power reserve on a single charge for the new crossover will be about 600 km.
Recall that last month it became known that the Swedish manufacturer intends to launch a series of coupe-cabriolet Polestar 6, which will be based on the concept presented in March of this year. The total output of its power plant will be 884 hp. (900 Nm). Production of this novelty will start in 2026, while dealers are already accepting pre-orders.
