Mazda and Bose started the collaboration with the 3rd generation RX-7, which has powerful bass and amazing sound.
In search of excellent sound performance that could match these top standards, Ryoji Oe’s team presented Bose’s Acoustic Wave Cannon system.
The bass player system that includes a 3.6 meter long tube with high power woofer insideprovided exactly what Mazda was looking for, and both companies began working on incorporating this car speaker technology.
While at first the project seemed insurmountable, a smart system of folds and curves enabled Bose and Mazda engineers to install the long tube in the rear of the car without compromising space or sound quality.
«Acoustic Waveguide technology and the RX-7 made music effortlessRecalls Mike Rosen, Chief Engineer of Bose Automotive Systems, who participated in the project.
A success that was the impetus for the ongoing mission of creating top quality audio reproduction systems in many more Mazda models.
