Garcin noted that the next generation of the Chevrolet Bolt could get Michelin Uptis airless tires. The tread of such a tire looks exactly the same as a regular one, but instead of air, soft spokes made of a rubber mixture and polymer fiberglass are used in it. This technology has quite a few advantages: first of all, it is resistance to punctures of the tread, no need to monitor pressure and increased service life. True, airless tires will not fit all rims, so they will be sold as a set – like complete wheels. Last year, Uptis tires were already tested on the Mini Cooper.
