The metaverse is the subject that everyone is monopolizing in 2022, especially since the change of name of Facebook (the holding company of the group led by Mark Zuckenberg) to Meta and the creation of various virtual spaces on the Internet. A virtual world in which Cupra also enters by launching MetaHype.com, the Spanish brand’s metaverse, as part of its fourth anniversary celebrations.
But that’s not all: if the immaterial also represents the future for manufacturers, the “real” world remains at the heart of the strategy. Thus, Wayne Griffiths has announced the arrival of two new electric and rechargeable hybrid models within the next few years. And it’s not about models already known like the Tavascan and others UrbanRebelbut of two cars which have not yet been presented and which are due to be launched before the end of the decade.

One goal: to double everything
In 2024, the production version of the Tavascan will be presented, while in 2025, it will be the turn of the production version of the UrbanRebel to point the tip of its nose. This concept car, presented at the last Munich 2021 show, should give birth to a compact 100 electric with a fairly swift powertrain, taut lines and a real penchant for sportiness.
Regarding the other two models, no information has been disclosed. All that is known is that they will be positioned in segments not currently covered by Cupra and that they will be both electric and rechargeable hybrids.
This new range will allow Cupra to double the number of models in its catalog, to double its sales and to double its turnover. These new products should remain faithful to Cupra’s policy, with a little sporty side, cutting-edge technology and always this desire to seduce the youngest drivers. But Cupra still doesn’t aspire to be some sort of premium Seat alternative.

From real to virtual
As mentioned above, the other novelty presented by Cupra is the opening of MetaHype, the metaverse dedicated to customers and enthusiasts, but not only. The goal is to attract start-ups, other brands and partners to animate this new virtual world where you can move freely through avatars.
Here you can visit virtual Cupra garages, drive the Urban Rebel in motorsport championships, participate in events (such as the virtual version of Primavera Sound in Barcelona) or invest in NFTs, virtual collectibles including uniqueness is guaranteed by the blockchain.
