The names of the Russian prime ministers have not yet been disclosed, but the head of the company called them “key projects”, so there are guesses.
The Renault Group presented its financial report for the past year and shared its plans for the future. In total, 2.696 million new cars were sold worldwide in 2021 (including Dacia, Lada and Alpine brands), which is 4.5% less compared to the previous year. Sales of the Renault brand itself fell by 5.3% to 1.694 million units, while Dacia and Lada, on the contrary, are in the “plus”: 537 thousand (+3.1%) and 385 thousand (+0.3%), respectively. At the same time, the Group’s revenue also increased – 46.2 billion euros (+6.3%), of which 2.85 billion Renault Group came from the Russian AVTOVAZ (+10.4%). The net profit of the Group amounted to 967 million euros, while in 2020 there was a loss of 8.05 billion euros.
Well, now the most interesting thing about the premiere. In 2022, Renault plans to bring to market at least seven new models, four of which have already been disclosed. So, this year, full-fledged sales of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric electric hatch, the Renault Kangoo EV “green” van and the Dacia Jogger cross-station wagon will begin, plus the Mobilize Limo electric sedan will appear in Europe (intended mainly for carsharing). New items that are just getting ready for debut: the Renault Austral crossover for the Old World and two models for Russia.
Cars not yet presented in Renault’s presentation are marked with the same pictures, so these are not teasers. There is no official data on Russian models yet, while during the online presentation of the report, the head of the Group, Luca de Meo, called these cars “key projects” for the Russian Federation. Most likely, we are talking about the Renault Logan sedan and the next generation Renault Sandero / Stepway hatch, moreover, disguised test prototypes have already come across in our country more than once. It is assumed that the “five-door” as a whole will repeat the European version under the Dacia brand, while the sedan will be an analogue of the Turkish Renault Taliant. It is also possible that compacts in Russia will be renamed and positioned as completely new models.
Another premiere of Renault is planned for this year – a global one, but this is not a production car, but a concept. His name has not yet been announced, but there is a teaser. And the company also announced that the show car received a hydrogen plant. Fully hydrogen car will be declassified in May.
The Renault Group also announced new models for the next three years: five cars will be presented in 2023, eleven in 2024, and four in 2025. Of these, only “electric trains” have been opened so far. In particular, a year later, the successor to the Renault Twizy city car (under the Mobilize brand) and the passenger Renault Kangoo EV will be brought to the market, and in 2024 a new Dacia electric car, a commercial embodiment of the Renault 5 concept and some, apparently, a commercial model, will appear on the market (a little more we talked about the upcoming Renault electric cars earlier).
