For months, Formula 1 has been waiting for the official announcement of the entry of the VW Group, starting from 2026.
Background consultations are in full swing, with Audi discussing with McLaren a possible takeover and participation in the sport through it, while Porsche had from the beginning focused on concluding a deal with Red Bull.
In accordance with Motorsport-Total.com, this possibility is more probable than ever. Negotiations have reached the stage where all that is needed to reach an agreement is the approval of the board of directors of the VW Group.
The formalization of the cooperation could be done even in March, if everything goes smoothly.
The orchestrators of the discussions are Helmut Marko (Red Bull consultant), and his compatriot and head of VW Motorsport, Fritz Enzinger.
The existence of the Red Bull Powertrains division, which the company recommended with the withdrawal of Honda from its full involvement in Formula 1, helped to reach this deal, as Porsche is going to use these facilities, together with its own centrally located in Weissach, Germany.
