Alfa Romeo is targeting premium brands such as BMW, a fact that was confirmed by the CEO of the Italian firm, Jean-Philippe Imparato.
Speaking to Autonews Europe, Imparato claimed that it was no longer claiming a sufficient market share to operate the factories. These days are over and Alfa Romeo is changing the page aiming at the premium category, both in terms of quality and pricing.
The new Alfa Romeo Tonale will be released in late 2022 and in America, a market vital to the brand. That is why the delivery of cars in this large market must continue in order to achieve the new goal.
Alongside, Imparato left small tips for the launch of a new model every year until 2030. From 2027, the Italian brand will focus exclusively on electric vehicles with the first purely electric car to be a small SUV, which will find its place under today’s Tonale. Note that the upcoming B-SUV will also be offered with thermal engines.
So it is expected small SUV to step on the PSA platform (CMP) and it is possible that the future Giulia and Stelvio will be based on the large Stellantis platform (STLA) and will be available as both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
End, the CEO of Alfa Romeo stated that the company can move back to the small and medium category and see its successor Julietbut this is not certain.
