After having already done the same with its smaller models, like the Panda or the 500, behold, Fiat extends electrification to the 500X and Tipo, with the introduction of a Mild-Hybrid engine. An initiative that makes the Italian brand’s range completely electrified.
Like other manufacturers concerned with complying with European standards, which impose ever lower values, Fiat is also looking to lower the average emissions of its range in Europe. Since, after having already equipped both the Panda and the 500 with 48V Mild-Hybrid solutions, the Turin brand now extends this same solution to the Type and at 500X.
According to the Carscoops, this hybrid solution is the same one already presented, about a month ago, on the Jeep Renegade and Compass. That is, it is a 1.5 liter Turbo engine, with 128 hp, assisted by an electric motor, guaranteeing another 20 hp and 55 Nm of torque. A set that then appears associated with a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
In this way, both the Tipo Hybrid and the 500X Hybrid complete the classic start from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 and 9.4 seconds, respectively.
Despite entering the Mild-Hybrid category, as it uses a 48V solution, both the 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid can run 47% of the time without using the combustion engine. Even reaching 62% of the time, when in the city.
Starts as early as 2025. Fiat becomes an exclusively electric brand by 2030
According to Fiatit is possible to start, park and even drive with only the electric motor, in addition to the system recovering energy to the 15 kW battery during deceleration and braking.
Also thanks to this system, city consumption can be lower than the 1.6 turbodiesel version, assures the manufacturer.
Few aesthetic changes
On an aesthetic level, little separates these proposals from the existing Tipo e 500Xwith both receiving, as a novelty, the Hybrid acronym inscribed on the tailgate, both of which can also be configured in the RED version, with red exterior, black interior, and red details, in addition to specific symbols.
The 500X Hybrid will also feature a new front badge, an integral part of the model changes for 2022, while, the Type Hybrid, will also be available, with this hybrid engine, in the SW Crossof air more offroad.
arrive in april
The first hybrid units of these two models should start arriving at dealerships from April, and from 2023 onwards, a Fiat will start a process during which it will unveil one new tram per year. Goal: reach 2027 with a range without combustion engines.
