Volvo Cars has just reached a milestone that, until today, it had only achieved once: having a model capable of selling 200,000 or more units in a single year. The person responsible, this time, was the Volvo XC40, during the last year of 2021.
As announced this Wednesday, the Volvo Cars, the XC40 ended 2021 with a total of 201,037 units sold in a single year. A fact that is already a historic milestone in the already long existence of the Swedish brand and that makes this model, one of the most successful proposals ever, in the history of the car manufacturer born in Gothenburg.
Moreover, and to help with this achievement, the Swedish brand highlights the growth in sales of the compact crossover in 2021, which rose 8 percent over the previous year.
It is recalled that the XC40 hit the markets in 2018, as Volvo Cars’ debut model in the compact SUV segment. A segment that, moreover, has become increasingly important and with greater weight in the global automotive market.
After the XC40. Volvo C40 Recharge now available in Portugal
Moreover, the importance of the XC40 is not limited to this aspect, as the model was also the one with which Volvo Cars started its electrification, namely with the launch of the XC40 Recharge, in addition to being the first to use the then new CMA platform – Compact Modular Architecture.
In conclusion, just remember that Volvo Cars has set itself the objective of becoming a company with a neutral environmental impact, by 2040. Therefore, the XC40 is just one of the many products and initiatives that the Swedish manufacturer has already launched and is still planning to launch, as a way to reach this desideratum.
