The BMW i3 is equipped with a 170-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 42.2 kilowatt-hours. Also in Europe, a more powerful version of the hatchback is sold with an installation for 184 forces. In the first case, acceleration to “hundreds” takes 7.3 seconds, in the second – 6.9 seconds. The range of the i3 is 260-330 kilometers, which is considered a very modest result compared to modern electric vehicles, which travel 400-500 kilometers without recharging.
As for the aforementioned successor to the i3, the iX1 model, it is an electric version of the third generation X1. This model will have to wait a few more years – it will not be assembled at the plant in Regensburg until 2024. So for some time, the niche vacated with the departure of the i3 will be occupied by the MINI Electric, which is being developed by the efforts of BMW and the Chinese Great Wall and will be “registered” at the enterprise in Chinese Zhangjiagang at the beginning of next year.
