BMW prepares to bid farewell to V12 engines. The German car manufacturer will, moreover, mark the occasion with a special and limited edition of 12 cars, based on the M760i xDrive, although in this case, destined, only and only, for the North American market.
Thirty-five years after the BMW have presented the famous M70 5.0 liters with a 12-cylinder V, the first V12 used by the Munich brand, behold, the manufacturer now bids farewell to this type of blocks, with the one he called ‘The Final V12’. In this case, a 6.6-liter engine that features BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology.
The new V12 block with 609 horsepower it manages, for example, to reach 96 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, which also reveals how much technology has advanced, since the debut of the first V12, in 1987, which produced only 295 hp.
As for the model itself and also as a way to stand out from the other 7 Series, the “Final V12” will even have a plate with this same designation on the back of the engine, the same one that will appear, for example, on the door sills, as well as on the center console. It will also include the number of one of the only 12 units that the German brand plans to manufacture.

Alongside this synonym of exclusivity, the guarantee of several other details designed by BMW, such as the 20-inch alloy wheels with special double spokes and painted in ‘Window Grey’ or ‘Jet Black’. Customers will also be able to choose from more than 80 exterior colours, as well as various ‘Full Merino’ leather tones, created by individual BMW, to match the ‘Piano Black’ finish.
Deliveries for July
As for the production of these 12 very special M760i xDrive, the forecasts are that they will start to come off the assembly line, in the United States of America, from June 2022, with the first deliveries to take place in July.
Along with the M760i xDrive, BMW also plans to deliver to future owners, a custom trophy, with several references to the car, and which represents the ownership of “1 of the only 12” “Final V12” vehicles.
