BMW Motorrad closed the year with record results despite the huge challenges. With 194,261 sales (+ 14.8%), 2021 was the best year for BMW Motorrad since its inception.
Europe showed strong sales growth in 2021. Italy (16,034 points / +15.2%), Spain (12,616 points / +14.4%) and France (19,887 points / +13.4%) were the drivers of growth with sales increasing constantly. In total, 9,100 more vehicles were delivered to Europe, including Germany, compared to the previous year. China (14,309 points / + 21.4%) is also one of the strongest markets in Asia with double-digit growth. India remains on a strong uptrend course, achieving an absolute increase of 102.5% with 5,191 sales.
Germany remains by far the largest single market for BMW motorcycle. With sales of 25,972 units, the BMW motorcycle defends its position again as the most successful motorcycle manufacturer in the German market in 2021.
The US market also grew very positively for BMW Motorrad in 2021 with sales of 16,030 motorcycles and scooters while fortunately, the UK’s departure from the European Union did not significantly affect the driving pleasure offered by the two wheels. With a 26.6% increase and sales of 9,263 units in the UK / Ireland (2020: 7,315 units), the UK market has proven to be stronger than ever.

The four cruiser models of the BMW R 18 family enter their first full year of sales together. Moreover, only in the first months of 2022, the launch of the purely electric scooter BMW CE 04 and the top four 6-cylinder K 1600 GT / GTL / B and Grand America models, which have further improved in every way, are the new arrivals in our range and are expected to give new impetus to sales in the first half of the year. We have also planned many interesting projects for the second half of 2022, which means that our customers and friends can look forward to several surprises».
